A Letter to Our Members About Water Rates
Dear Members,
We want to let you know that, beginning July 24th, the new rate will apply. The District is implementing new water rates to continue meeting rising operating costs and maintaining dependable service to our District.
How the New Rate Was Determined
This decision was made only after careful discussion over several Board meetings. In reaching this adjustment, the Board reviewed presentations from independent consulting companies and considered recommendations from the District’s lending agencies, with the goal of balancing the District’s needs with the impact on our members.
Rate Changes
- Minimum monthly rate: increasing from $20.00 to $22.50
- Rate per 1,000 gallons: increasing from $9.10 to $10.10
Additional Considerations
The recommended minimum rate was higher than the rate the Board ultimately adopted. After reviewing the District’s current needs, the Board felt a smaller increase was appropriate because several repair projects that might otherwise have required District repair funds were instead covered through surplus funds from grants previously awarded to the District.
Because of that support, the Board determined that the minimum rate does not need to meet the recommended threshold of 66% of monthly expenses at this time. We hope this approach helps the District remain financially responsible while also being mindful of the families and households we serve.
